The Kansas Zen Center offers ceremonies for individuals and for the sangha.

Individual ceremonies include weddings, memorial services, and a ceremony to welcome a baby. These ceremonies are available to anyone; you need not be a member to have one. You may ask any of the dharma teachers or Zen masters to perform such a ceremony. Weddings need not adhere to the Kwan Um School form, and may be adapted to the needs of the couple.

For personal ceremonies, it is customary to give a donation both to the Zen Center and to the person performing the ceremony.

Sangha ceremonies include ceremonies for Buddha’s birthday (near April 8 each year), Buddha’s enlightenment day (near December 8 each year), and precepts ceremonies. Everyone is welcome to attend these ceremonies, and people taking precepts often invite family or friends as guests.
