Located in Lawrence, Kansas, we offer traditional zen meditation practice, both in person and online, in the Korean style, as well as classes, retreats, and other events.

Sunday: 9:30 am orientation (in-person), 9:45 am Dharma School (in-person), 10:00 am practice (hybrid)

Tuesday: 6:30 am practice (hybrid), 7:00 pm practice (Zoom only)

Wednesday: 6:30 pm special chanting (hybrid), 7:00 pm practice (hybrid)

Thursday: 6:30 am practice (hybrid), 7:00 pm Unity Temple practice (in-person)

Saturday: 6:30 am practice (hybrid)

In severe weather the building is closed and practice takes place on Zoom only. What is severe weather? Dangerous driving conditions, imminent tornadoes or other severe storms… Use your judgment and be careful out there!

Regular practice is suspended on days with retreats and ceremonies.

Parking at the Zen Center

The Kansas Zen Center is located on the north end of Laura Ave. There are 14 paved parking spaces on the west (Haskell or Almira) side of the building, accessed via the alley between Almira and Laura Avenues, and a handicapped parking space on the Laura Ave side of the building. Except for ceremony days or other special events these tend to be open and the best choice for parking.

Should you need to park on one of the area streets, please be mindful that these are narrow residential streets and some of our neighbors’ driveways are not clearly visible or marked. You may park on the north side of 12th street. There is no parking on 13th street
